General Question
Starting to plan early is important for a successful study abroad. There are many study options in different places, with various durations, subjects, languages, and costs. To find the right program that matches your goals, you should start planning at least one semester before you leave.
A visa is like a special mark in your passport. It lets you go to and stay in the country where you'll study. You need a visa for Year and Semester Programs, and also for many Summer Programs.
How long it takes to get a visa depends on where you're going. In some places, it's easy and fast, but in others, it can take a lot of time and cost a lot. Keep in mind that for some visas, you have to go in person to the consulate of the country you're going to. You might need to travel there. If your program needs a student visa, you might have to give your passport to the consulate along with your visa application and other papers.
After you've picked a program or have some ideas about what you want, get in touch with our Study Abroad Coordinator (Counselor) to set up a meeting.
Yes, you can do that because you'll have a visa that lets you enter the country more than once. However, we suggest spending time with your host family and experiencing the local culture during the holidays. It will give you a special insight into the values of the country you're visiting.
